Information for Students with Additional Needs

Facilities

The Marine Discovery Centre provides an engaging and hands-on experience with live marine animals.  The MDC building is wheelchair accessible.   Many students are able to safely board the boat RV Penghana and part of the program can involve taking seawater measurements or recreational fishing.

Unfortunately we do not have a boarding ramp for wheelchair access to Penghana.  As well as the touch tank and shark pool, students who are not able to access the Penghana are able to participate in activities such as measuring the oxygen and temperature of the sea water, driving our remotely controlled underwater vehicle, and fishing off Woodbridge Jetty.

There is a microwave and kettle available for preparing student food if required.

The building can sometimes be noisy, especially when another class is visiting at the same time.  We have noise minimising head phones for students if required.

Programs

All programs can be differentiated to accommodate student learning requirements, and we can customise programs based on student engagement or vocational education opportunities.

Information and resources to support your visit
